What to Expect When Dining at BGC Restaurants

What should you expect when you’re dining at some of BGC’s best restaurants? These are some things to keep in mind:

1. Higher Prices

Bonifacio Global City is one of the more expensive parts of Manila, alongside other cities like Makati or the other well-known CBDs like Ortigas. So, expect the prices at these restaurants to be higher than other places in the city.

There’s no one benchmark when it comes to per-head pricing as it can vary from place to place. But don’t expect to spend anywhere below $20 (PHP 1,000) per head for a good restaurant. In most cases, you might spend two to five times more than that. In High Street Cafe, for instance, we once spent $200 for a party of three.

2. Jam-packed Places

BGC restaurants will be packed, most especially on weekends. So it’s often a good idea to reserve a table ahead of time. Alternatively, you can come a little earlier to ensure you get seats. Getting at the restaurant around 30 minutes before peak hours seems to be the standard. So for lunch, be at the restaurant by 11:30 AM. For dinner, come 5:30 PM.

3. Quality Service

Let’s get on to the good side of BGC restaurant experiences. Since the prices are more premium and crowds are often more posh, you can expect quality service. We highly recommend that you show your gratuity by tipping your servers well. We remember tipping one waitress PHP 1,000 one night in one of the restaurants mentioned above. We don’t normally do that, but we really felt she deserved it (and we might have been a little tipsy too!)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is BGC a good place to eat?

Given the busyness and traffic, it might not be a place you’d want to eat at all the time, especially if your budget is tight. But it’s a great place to visit for special occasions or if you want to eat somewhere more fancy or secure.

If you’re driving, BGC will have some heavy traffic (especially right before and after working hours). You’ll see that most people who eat there are people who work there too. There are tons of offices in the area, many of them being large companies and multi-national corporations. Most people who eat in BGC dress up well, so it adds to the nice vibe.

Can I walk around BGC?

That really depends on your preference, but it does have relatively wide sidewalks compared to other areas in Manila. So, yes, you can actually walk around BGC a lot. Sometimes, it’s even faster to get around by foot instead of driving around or taking Grab or taxis!

Why is it expensive in BGC?

Bonifacio Global City is a business district, so it mostly caters to people with higher salaries and, therefore, more luxurious lifestyles. The simple answer is that that’s what people in this area are willing to pay. But beyond that, BGC does promise to give you your money’s worth, especially if you eat in some of the restaurants I mentioned above.
